Point out that the only thing keeping them from health is laziness and that death will take them soon.

Remind her that it's not just about appearances, that sure, a benefit to her new lifestyle is that she looks better, but more important than that is that she's healthy now, she's going to live a longer life, she's going to live a more fulfilling life, she won't be facing heart disease and diabetes and tons of other related health problems. And if her friends honestly think she should have just accepted being fat, if her friends think she did the wrong thing in losing weight, then her friends care more about her appearances, and her being just like them, than they do about her health. Remind her that friends shouldn't be happy that you're slowly killing yourself one donut at a time.

I know they can't understand real logic because of fat logic, but maybe she should just tell them, "If I should love myself at 'any size', why can't I love myself at this new smaller size? Because I do."

I mean, come on. Then again, huge people can only think "any size" = "Super Size".

For all their bitching about fat shaming, it sure sounds like they're doing their damndest to shame her back into being fat. Idiots.

An old friend of mine grew up fat, and in a very fat area. If she's serious about it there's nothing much you need to do. Just be an actual friend. I never knew that friend when she was fat. But fuck, I've never known anyone who hated fat people more than she did. Every fucking friend she had, according to her at least, tossed her to the side the second she started actually losing weight. As did her fat parents who she still would visit every month and end up a crying wreck afterward.

It's part of being a recovering addict. You learn to hate the people who try to drag you back down, while appreciating the few people who actually have the courage to tell you that being a junkie is fucked up.

The best you can do is to keep encouraging her to continue being active. Chances are she'll eventually realize her friends are just crabs trying to keep her down and she'll get rid of them on her own.

There're stories on things like Fatlogic about how some hams attempted to keep a ''friend'' from getting their humanity back. The crab in a bucket mentality, so to say. Show them to her? It says ''it's a common thing that people want to hold you down with the rest of them, these people realised that and managed to lose weight anyway, you can do it too''
