Well it's honest at least.

What's fucked is that McDonalds is shitty, but can actually be worked into a sensible diet with a bit of planning and discipline.

If I'm on travel and need to eat something quick, a quarter pounder and vanilla cone is predictable and filling enough. Not the greatest macros, but it'll do.

But if there's a Chipotle, that's always 100x better.

It would be cool if there was a website where you could enter in your preferred macros for a meal and pick a fast food restaurant and it would use their nutrition info and a search algorithm to give you a list of your best options for that meal to get close. Maybe something like that already exists, but when I'm lacking time to cook, it would be awesome if I could just stroll into any fast food joint and know what to order to at least hit a good macro balance. Sure it wouldn't be very healthy since fast food has almost no micronutrients, but when traveling and such, it beats missing your macros too!

That's not a bad idea. Especially if it linked in to a myfitnesspal account. Fitting a meal into a set of user prescribed macros/kcal limit is basically a modified knapsack problem. The hardest part would be having the necessary data on-hand and keeping it up to date.

I wonder if anyone out there has an open API for restaurant nutritional information, or if a database of it would need to be built first.

edit: well, there is a commercial API. So a site like you suggested could be built around it:

Actually most items alone are not THAT high in calories, only the combination is. But well, I don't like it, I would rather have some homemade cake as a treat and I prefer subway as fast food (we don't have Chipotle).

You can eat a diet that involves a lot of fast food and still be shredded. When I'm arguing trials in circuit courts I can be stuck off in small towns for weeks at a time and circuit trials means all day in court and all night preparing for the next day in court, no time for meal prep. I eat a lot of fast food when I'm doing that. I add/change ingredients, combine different burgers, whatevs but you can make a perfectly healthy meal at mcdonalds.

KFC is the best though. Ignore the sides and just eat the chicken. Ketosis awaits.

Where is Q'Doba? The only place that I have actually seen one was when my ship was in Baltimore and it was just down Clinton.
