RANT. I am a baker and I love my job. I work at a Bakery specializing in French pastries and delicate desserts. We are not cheap but we are also competitive as far as other bakeries in the area go. We use expensive ingredients and these desserts are majorly time consuming. What makes me rage like nothing else? When obeasts come in here and complain about the size and prices on our goods. Look, I know you're used to huffing biscuits but there is a reason macarons and the like are expensive. Everyone else seems to get that quality TREATS aren't cheap and the majority of our customers treat them as just that. If I hear one more "I'm not spending $20.00 on 1" cookies when I can buy a pack of Oreos for $3.00" GOOD, go there instead and stop wasting my time!! I also can not count the number of times I have heard "how on Earth are you so thin working in a bakery? I'd never have a paycheque!" Well that is why you look the way you do and I look the way I do, it's called self control. Just because I'm surrounded by desserts all day, doesn't mean I feel the need to shove them down my throat!
I absolutely love serving thin customers though, you know that they're coming in for something special and will appreciate what we do.
How about you guys? Tell me your stories! Any bakers here?
