Well you have tons of well documented research on artificial sweeteners and if anything they are a lot safer than the sugar they would drink with a liter of coke beetus.

So I'd rather see an obeast drink diet sodas to be honest.

I'd just not rather see an obeast.

I remember doing a study into aspartame a few years ago and lower sperm count being a concern. It was proven in rats but I can't remember if anything was checked on humans.

Sources on your Aspartame claim?

Here are a few on my counter-claim.

EDIT: And I drink an occasional diet soda because I have a desperate sweet tooth since I don't eat sugar much. Once a week maybe?

They also wear neon "work out clothes" out in public. Surprisingly (and not) they're never sweaty...

I've wondered this too. I hate Diet drinks. I maybe drink one regular soda per month. It's just too much sugar for me, bleh. But I notice that fat people always have a diet drink while the somewhat thin and healthy people around my office drink regular sodas and stuff... What's with that?

Regular soda tastes good or at least to normal people. Hambeasts drink diet soda to make it look like they're on a diet since they'll be guilty if they drank regular soda in public. I think that's about the best explanation I can offer so far.

I'm not a Ham so their reasons for diet soda are probably different from mine. I drink Diet coke for the caffeine (good coffee is hard here) and it is a trained tasted. I also can not tolerate the fructose content in sodas. It tastes bad, very sour, and the heartburn is incredible pain. On a human portioned diet an occasional articificially sweetened soda helps the morning waking process. What it does for Hams I could never know.

I'll take it.

I usually stick to tea and that roast chicory coffee substitute (and water of course), but I enjoy the occasional (once a week or so) diet carbonated drink. Not with aspartame, though. Can't stand the taste.

Like anything, it's almost certainly fine in moderation. But if you're chugging 2L bottles of the stuff every day, there will probably be some problems. And because it has zero calories, that just means you can eat more food.

Diet sodas are usually zero calorie, so they are technically healthier. The problem is that hams think they are negative calories, therefore they can eat an entire pizza as long as they drink a 'diet' soda.

I love ice cold water, it's amazing. Especially in the summer, it just tastes sweet and omg just wonderful. It's too hot today... Occasionally I add those little Mio's drops to give flavor if I'm wanting something different.

Ice cold water is always best on a hot summer day. I'm with you on that!

Totally with you on the water. It's like nectar on a hot day!!

I can't stand any kind of fizzy pop though. Even as a child I didn't like it and my peers (and even most adults) looked at me like I was a lunatic at birthday parties etc when they were pouring everyone pop and I asked for water, or at least fresh juice (I don't like the concentrated stuff either, it all tastes fake.)

My husband has the odd Pepsi Max if we end up having to stop for food somewhere unhealthy (he has type 1 diabetes and if he needs to eat, he needs to eat. There isn't always a healthy option available, especially when we have to stop at a service station while travelling!)

He'll treat himself to diet pop with his shitty meal because he likes the fizz but doesn't want to spike his blood sugar and make things worse, even if his sugars are going low. The food fixes that without the crazy high then low! He only eats fast food a few times a year, maximum, so those rare few drinks of diet pop won't really affect him.

I also personally find that fizzy pop does nothing to satiate my thirst. If I'm thirsty and drink fizzy pop then I'm just as thirsty (if not more) afterward! I don't understand how people can guzzle it and have their thirst satisfied! Even if I do try to drink it, I can only sip it as knocking back anything carbonated burns my throat.

Water is the only thing that will slake a real thirst for me and when you're hot and thirsty it tastes a million times better than any other option in my opinion.

The only other thing I would choose on a hot day would be fresh (preferably fruity) yoghurt drinks. I fell in love with those as a child when visiting Spain but I became lactose intolerant as an adult and considering my digestive problems, it's just not worth it anymore.

Probably a good thing as the sugar content of most yoghurt drinks is crazy!!
