Furthermore, anorexics love calorie counts. What they hate is having food and no idea of how many calories are in it. They find themselves either massively overestimating the content to be sure or avoiding it entirely in fear.

Thanks for breaking this down a little, I know 2 girls and 1 guy that have legit EDs (not attention seeking). Helps to understand the situation.

Fuck CNN and their perpetual stream of subversive cancer.

Glad to know people outside of burgerland realize how much of a toxic cancer CNN reporting is. It's the most toxic SJW garbage reporting imaginable.

There is an interesting phenomenon in the AN community where a lot of them only eat junk food. You would think they would stick to apples and celery, but a bag of chips comes with a very black and white weight and calorie count and many of them find that reassuring. It's more about the control of knowing exactly how much you ate, and so a plate of stir fried vegetables or something with an undefined calorie count can induce more stress than a cheeseburger that comes with a count of "exactly" 364 calories or whatever.

This is very true. I had a friend in college who almost certainly had undiagnosed anorexia. She would would carry around this little book that had food and calories listed in it. If she could measure her food herself (literally weigh 6oz of chicken or 3oz of grapes or whatever the fuck) she would take the healthy food. But if she had a choice between "Here's a piece of chicken...I don't know how many ounces it is it's a piece a fucking chicken" or an individual bag of Doritos, she would take the Doritos because the bag clearly said "200 calories" or whatever.
