A little off topic but just wanted to say that your remote Alaska life always sounds so appealing. I lived in Patagonia for a while and couldn't deal with the loneliness. I admire the mental fortitude of anyone who can make it work (and I bet the views are worth it!).

I'm trying to train my cat to go for walks on a harness, he's about 8 months old. He doesn't seem to totally like it so I'm wondering if he's too old for it? I only got him 3 months ago and the people at the cat rescue said he was harness trained.
A long time ago one of my best friends was like, "Don't be one of those people", when I told her I wanted a cat I could take for walks but fuck it. Cats love to be outside but there is so much danger out there for them, I figured I could train a young cat to like being on a leash so that they could have the best of both worlds.
There's this lady that takes TWO cats for walks everyday in my neighborhood. I always found that impressive.
Maybe I'm just a weirdo crazy cat lady...

Mine hate harnesses. I take them outside for supervised play time. Always close enough to grab if one tries to jump the fence.
