Maybe. I would bet it's been spreading since November and yet China flu has killed only 50,000 people or so in 3-5 months. Regular flu kills 500,000 people every year so China flu is well behind. I don't know why people are so excited about a flu that might a few fat people through pneumonia when you have heart disease and diabetes decimating them on a daily basis. Flu deaths don't even register, even in a bad flu season.

Not that I disagree, but I’ve known a few people to get covid now and I do not want it. It sounds incredibly painful. The people I know who recovered described it as being paralyzed with pain and suffocating by their own breathing.

Not that I disagree, but you're describing pneumonia, not China Flu. Regular flu will also give you pneumonia and it gives more people pneumonia than China Flu. I only take issue with the completely different response this flu is attracting to the regular flu despite them being so comparable. Anything we do for this that isn't done for the regular is a massive overreaction that is yet to be justified with any facts. The fact that this flu isn't even as deadly is the cherry on top.

I suppose the excitement is partly that fats could be dying much sooner than with the traditional fat plagues. Diabetes and heart disease can take decades. It seems Covid-19 can take them out in 1-2 weeks in their 20s and 30s. This virus is novel; there's a lot of data still emerging and a lot of unknowns. I think comparing it to influenza is a fallacy, but only a few years of data (time) will tell. I'll be the first to admit we just don't know, and that claiming to know, is almost always a bad idea in any situation.

I disagree that they are dying any sooner. I think you'll find the same fats who are dying would have died of the regular flu in other years. It kills hundreds of thousands of people every year.

I disagree that there are still a lot of unknowns. I would have agreed earlier, but we are at the point now where there is more than enough data to support that this is nothing special. There were questions about how bad it could be in January, but it's April now and nothing has happened. Every interruption you have experienced has been because of your government, not the virus. The numbers around the virus itself show it to be a typical seasonal flu. You wouldn't know it was happening if not for the 24/7 coverage.

I disagree that you can't compare it to influenza. They are both corona viruses, they have the same symptoms, the same transmission, the same infection mechanism, the same death rate, the same risks to the same demographics, and the same treatment. They are extremely comparable. The only difference is that the regular flu actually kills more people.

You are being manipulated by the government and the media. I keep asking people to explain how this is a terrible pandemic using numbers and all I get are social and emotional appeals. It's crazy because you're all determined to believe that we're all going to die. It's like a cult.
