Fruit doesn't even affect blood sugar like other crap will. Any normal person could have a (real fruit, not juice, and not some pre-mixed or store-bought crap with added sugar) fruit smoothie and their blood sugar would not get some insane spike from it, and would balance out just as it should in about two hours. Your body can handle fruit pretty well. Much different than say, bread, or cookies.

Err, yes, a normal person could have all three of those and not spike blood sugar, but for diabetics fruit will spike blood sugar. The fruit we eat in modern times has been bred to be so vastly different from the original incarnations in terms of sugar/sweetness/taste that you almost wouldn't be able to recognize the two are the 'same' if put side by side.

Hell, give your normal person a whole fucking sheetcake loaded with frosting and their blood sugar won't spike. A normal person can handle what they eat. I'd bet you would see a bump at most. It's one of the reasons why even well-controlled diabetics still can get complications. The artificial insulin just can't act fast enough safely to prevent spikes, even if taken before the meal.
