When I used to work in the hospital I always took the stairs for this very reason.

Smart. Most hospital workers are hams.

It was a few moves back. But I used to work in a hospital where the stairwells were pretty much designated as a "only if you're running" zone. It was for situations where someone needed to get to one of the floors faster than an elevator would allow. It was a blast. The only people who used them were in good shape. So it was just people jumping running and flying all over the place. In retrospect I don't know how that kept up without some safety concerns getting brought up. But for once actual practical results seemed to win over on red tape.
