Calling on the government to declare fatphobia a form of prejudice means they want to legally compel us all, via the government, to like them. Far too many people crave this Orwellian utopia in which everyone is forced to be nice for fear of government persecution or legal punishment, and it's so frustrating - doesn't she realize that if a government gets to dictate other people's values and feelings, they will also be dictating her own...that a loss of their freedom means a loss of hers too?

No thanks. I want the freedom to like someone or dislike someone, and to be the one who decides who and why. Nobody is owed friendship or affection or attraction from anyone; those things are a privilege that you have to work toward earning, and it has to be mutual on the part of the other person. There are people in my life I love dearly who also happen to be fat, to varying degrees. I don't love them because they're fat. I wish they would get in shape because I know how much better they'd feel if they did. I bet this lady has people in her life who love her too. She needs to stop trying to force everyone to pretend to like her so she can feel better about herself, and just focus her energy on her friends and family and on building a good life for herself, and not let the opinions of strangers or childhood bullies drag her down.
