I HATE when people let themselves go under the guise of "healing!"
Yes, eating 3000-5000 calories a day can be healing. FOR UNDERWEIGHT ANOREXICS IN RECOVERY WHO NEED TO PUT ON SOME WEIGHT BEFORE THEY DROP DEAD. When I was 79 pounds in recovery, I ate that much daily to get myself up to a healthy weight as quickly as possible, and to cure my malnutrition.
But guess what? Once I reached a healthy weight, you know what I did? STOPPED. I see a ton of people in 'uwu anorexia recovery' who continue posting 3000+ calorie days under recovery long after they've reached a healthy weight. Then they become overweight, but even then they STILL need 5000 calories a day because 'recovery!'
I know I've gone on a bit of a tangent, but I'm sick of recovery used as an excuse by hams.
Dear hams,
Recovery isn't fun and games. If you've really been starving yourself, when you begin eating again, your disgestive system won't know what the hell to do. You will feel bloated after the smallest amount of food. You will switch from constipation, to diarrhea, to both at the same time for up to 6 months. You will soak yourself in sweat every night as your body feels like it's about to catch fire. You will face both extreme hunger with an inability to eat due to bloating, and stages where anything you eat gives you the shits and you don't want to think about food, but you can't stop eating because you need to gain weight or else be at risk of dying. Recovery is intense and grueling. Stop using it as an excuse for your 18th helping. You are minimizing the struggles of all of us who have actually suffered through recovery.
