Ok, pardon if I take some offense to that - I’m a 28yo woman, the other engineer is a 38yo woman, and the 42yo male boss and 40yo male shop manager are both acting like spoiled brats who can’t plan their way out of a wet paper bag, do nothing but blame others, and refuse to do anything proactive (especially the shop manager because it’s “not my job” - kinda is his job to tell me he ordered the wrong screws despite the right size being written down on the goddamn sheet). Us two females are the only ones acting like professionals who can plan and keep a lid on things. In my professional experience as an engineer, most women are too worried about being stereotyped to do typical office bitch things, but men can and do get away with shit and are either great engineers or entitled little shits who think they’re smarter than everyone and don’t have to work or help their team.

Again pls excuse me for the rant but the shop guy made a crack about me being on my period when I reprimanded him for the screws thing (he’s known for a week they were the wrong ones but somehow it’s my job to magically know he fucked up and fix it, or possibly just do his job for him. Idk.) Having a vagina does not mean I can’t design/calculate/plan/be professional. It does mean the shop guys comment on my tits all the fucking time even though I wear cardigans to work. Like I don’t want special treatment for being a woman - I just want to be judged on my work like male engineers rather than dismissed and leered at. It’s unbelievably infuriating. My boss doesn’t leer, fortunately. The only mark in his favor.

Yep, that’s what I was thinking reading this as well. I work in an office where I’m the only guy and stuff like OP describes goes on constantly.

Thank god I have an office with a door I can keep closed as much as possible..
