Oh no! The Adelaide Motorsport Festival is cancelled! I find this very conflicting. On one hand, hearing the old F1 cars once a year is the only thing keeping me sane, but on the other hand, it was apparently cancelled due to a lack of government funding and this means less unnecessary taxpayer-funded spending. How do I get my annual refresher booster shot of LOUD now? There is only BOSS GP in Europe and that will cost me $4K in flights and accommodation for 90 minutes of entertainment. Eugh.

Ok I'm assuming that you HAVE seen this, but the Formula 1 racing show on Netflix? Drive to Survive? Nothing like watching it in Hi Def 65" tv with surround sound.
Oh man I wish you could watch it with me!

I haven't seen it because I watched the actual season. But also, the thing is that documentary is very biased. They took radio calls from one race and dubbed them over a different race to add drama, for example. IMO, while it did increase F1 viewership, it isn't a good way to do it because people have been given a false representation, especially considering how boring this season is. Ferrari and Mercedes also opted not to participate and those are the two biggest teams. Mostly, though, these new hybrid turbo cars are what killed my passion for the sport. They sound like pure shit. I don't care how fast they are, and while the engineering of them is intellectually interesting, they aren't exciting and what I want from F1 is emotional excitement. Only screaming engines can do that. If you ever get a chance to see pre-2014 cars, firstly, call me and tell me where, and secondly, go have a listen because they are breathtaking.

That wasn't the right video, car, etc.
Neither is this one. But you can at least see a car.

Sadly, though your heart is in the right place, it's about the experience. A real F1 car up close in real life is something you just can't explain and something that can't be captured by video. It's not just the volume, it's the intensity, brutality, and visceral nature of it. You can feel your skeleton vibrate when these cars move. It's intoxicating. The 2013 Melbourne GP remains possibly the best and more unforgettable day of my life.

Nothing will take the sting out of miserable news. How disappointing.
This is not even a drop in the bucket of the fun you would had. Heck, it's not even the same bucket. But your post reminded me of this guy who produces some cool videos. This one's for you:
