That's damn cheap. I think the average is about 300 for the toilet itself for any place I've done them in and that's before my mark up.

I was surprised. I resisted replacing the thing for a long time because I didn't want to spend $500 on a toilet when the only problem was stains. It helped that I did the labour myself, but yeah, I was shocked how cheap toilets can be. In saying that, there were a lot of toilets that were $3-500. I assume they are built to cope with a fat family rather than 1 person. You save a lot of money when you can always buy light duty for things.

Not really. It's usually quality of build and drain quality. The cheaper ones are often not properly molded inside and clog easier or chip inside repeatedly. Fit or not a toilet is not something to cheap out on.
