Why do they take so many selfies?!
If I took a selfie and it looked like that, I'd never take another one.
Actually, I don't take selfies because I'm fugly and it's depressing, so how are these fat fuckers so in love with themselves? How do they not see the pictures and think, "holy shit, I need to stop shoving food in my face because I'm a fucking whale"?

My take: they're posting so many selfies as a way to seek validation, precisely because they are unhappy with themselves. /armchair psychology

Basically this

Yeah, I tend not to photograph well...so I rarely take selfies and almost never share them (I'll take them to see how a different hairstyle looks or something, and then usually delete them). I think the last time I actually took and shared one online was the day I did my hair in victory rolls, three years ago. I too do not understand how people who look that bad are so happy to take and share pictures of themselves all the time. Aside from the fact that I don't like how I look in pictures, it feels so fucking egotistical.
And funnily enough, a couple of weeks ago my husband found a stack of old pictures that had been in storage, and one of them was my The Picture. As in, The Picture that, eleven years ago now, made me realize I was getting fucking fat and needed to do something about it, The Picture that horrified me, The Picture that made me put down the fork and lose forty pounds. It is just as horrifying to look at today as it was then; my body didn't look too bad in it but my face was starting to totally look piggy, my cheekbones were disappearing... I cannot imagine looking at that picture of myself and thinking, "Eh, shrug I look fine, guess I'm just naturally fat, oh well." I especially cannot imagining looking at that picture and thinking, "Great! Now let me put on some spandex and take a few more!" SMH, man.

I remember finding a picture of myself when I was fat like 8 years after I had lost the weight. No one in the family had ever seen it before (got developed and shoved in a drawer or something) and all of us saw me and couldn't believe how gross I looked. As in, no one remembered me being fat.

Nah, people used to manage plenty of pictures of themselves when the only option was time-consuming paintings. Nothing stops vanity.
