Fat girls online love to yell about so-called "diet culture" but what and where exactly is it? We live in a society where you can buy 100 chicken nuggets for $10 at Burger King. Where chain restaurants regularly have unlimited fries/shrimp/appetizers. Sodas get free refills by default. The shamrock shake has a cult following. A burger at a restaurant is routinely a third pound or bigger. We're encouraged to eat at movies, sporting events, concerts. Kids meals come with toys. There are over 20 different kinds of Oreos. Buffets exist.
Turn on a TV. How many commercials come on for fast food? How many come on for diets or weight-loss? (Hint: it's only Hydroxycut pills and WeightWatchers commercials that come on sporadically versus over 12 junk food commericals an hour.

And once you've stuffed your ass to the point where you need to buy new clothes, you needn't worry about shame; everything is now vanity sized. Everything is stretch material (seriously though, why is everything (at least everything women's) mixed with spandex these days?). Every store has a plus sized section. What used to be considered "normal" is now seen as an unattainable body. The obesity rate in the US is 39.8%!
We live in a culture of absolute excess and gluttony. Unhealthy food is everywhere you go: happy hour, networking events, the beach. We eat fucking funnel cake on the beach.
Where is this diet culture? What are they yelling about? Someone please elaborate.

Even when I go to the health food grocery stores I still see tons of fat people. These people are such gluttons that even when they go to the lengths to buy expensive, high-quality organic food products, they STILL end up overweight and obese. People just do not want to put down the sugar until you put a literal gun to their head. It's too tasty.

Fatttit's vegan sub has a thread right now about how fat vegans shouldn't be intimidated. People into healthy diets or environmental causes who are fat just boggle the mind. They're using twice the resources as another person, insisting on tons of packaged food with all the excess plastic that entails, ensuring they have to drive everywhere because walking is just too hard and it goes on and on. Worst of all it just gives whatever good cause they're standing with a bad image because their own life is so shitty.

Whole Foods isn't a health food store and even most health food stores are either. They're so full of sugar it's ridiculous. "My cookies and candy are healthy because they're organic. They've even got organic sugar in them."

WF selling cookies and candy doesn't make the raw dairy and pastured meats they sell any less healthy. That's libtard level logic you're using.

It's another boogie man to scare people away from reasonable eating while surrounded by an unnatural food environment. More self destructive Marxist propaganda and the HAMPCs are eating it up.
[–] OdinsMessenger 1 point 5 points 6 points (+6|-1) ago
I wouldn't say it's Marxist. This mentality late-stage capitalism at it's finest. "As long as I can afford it, who cares?" is what this is all about. Sure, there are government programs in place that allow poor individuals to get fat, but that's just state-funded capitalism. Consumerism has lead us here and will be our downfall unless the population as a whole can start to show some restraint.

Japan has a similar food environment with advertising but their standards have not been slowly chipped away like the west.

Not only that, but the mere mention that someone is overweight is met with vitriolic scorn. The general consensus is that weight loss is impossible and that we should just accept fat people. This is the mainstream opinion. You can't suggest a diet without being labelled as promoting eating disorders. It reminds me of their rape culture claims. Go to the middle east if you want to see a rape culture. There is none in the west just like there is no diet culture.

Well, you can't be the "good guys" under cultural marxism unless you are the victims fighting against the system. Even though you had a black president. Even though racism to benefit you is legal but racism to hurt you isn't. Even though fatasses steal money from insurance companies. Even though more men are raped in american than women. Even though illegal immigrants are criminals thieves and frequently rapists. Even though Almost all news funding and influence is on your side. Even though people will do anything to honor your beliefs, while your opposition is fired and (in some extreme canadian/western euro cases) jailed.

They are mentally like children, they don't want responsibilities and want attention. They want to be special and recognized by other people and instead of follow the path of truth (self improvement that require sacrifice and discipline to reach some goals or standards) they chose the "easy" way of hamstering (basically rationalize everything in order to feel good in the moment, but they need to hamster constantly because they are not aligned with the real life and real life consequences).
So they invent every posible crap like "diet culture" "patriarchy" "this or that priviledge" and so on. Doing it they just dig more their mental holes and they will never get out in the light.

The only people perpetuating “diet culture” is them.

I don't watch much TV but I can't remember the last time I saw an ad for a legitimate gym of any sort, even a chain gym, that wasn't Planet Fatness. I don't think smaller specialty type places like spin studios, yoga places, MMA dojos, etc ever advertised on TV but I swear 5-10 years ago and longer I'd see ads for 24h fitness/la fitness/golds gym/etc constantly. May be just wishful/nostalgic thinking on my part.
The fast food commercials are insane. It's always the same reprocessed crap (sugar, salt, grease) in some different formula. It's insane how the fatties eat it up.

Its their internal voice screaming at them to loose weight every time they look in the mirror. Every time they bend over or get in the car and get up from any position and they perceive it as everyone else, even though no one says anything except their doctor who is legally required to, and the voice never lets up becuase deep down they know its true. "you should lose (some, lots, heaps, of weight). !!!Diet culture everywhere!!!
No it's in your head fatty.
