I believe I know why this is. The body tends to store fat only over muscle. If you think about a normal human being, they will have fat on their upper arms, chest, abdomen, butt, and thighs mostly. These are where all the biggest muscles are. The body very rarely stores fat over bones. You don't see thin people with fat elbows, hands, knees, or feet (or foreheads). Fat will only be stored there when the body has simply exhausted every other place and no longer has a choice. It is a very unnatural thing and it therefore triggers a disease antipathy in us. Seeing fatty bony areas is a sign of very physically manifested poor health. It's just the same as seeing grossly discoloured skin ... which fats also tend to have. I believe it is extremely normal and logical to be unusually revolted by fat hands beyond the normal revulsion for a pot belly, for example.
