Tzatziki is lovely- just yoghurt, cucumber and herbs really. I also like tapenade- anchovies and olives blitzed in the blender. We used to live in Cyprus on a forces base and all the fat squaddie wives were eating frozen pizzas and chicken nuggets imported from the UK but we ate very Cypriot- lots of grilled meat and fish, salads, homemade bread, homemade shish kebabs on the barbecue etc. We ate a lot of dips but we'd generally have them with veggies as well as the pitta bread. I miss eating like that but you don't feel like it in grey British drizzle. This is what baffles me about so much of America- in the places where you have lovely hot climates you have people who leave their air conditioned house in an air conditioned car to go and eat 4000 calories in an air conditioned fast food joint, and then wonder why they look like they are made of dough.

I'm not really a fan of Olives, Just not my taste. Been to Greece and Cyprus so many times on holiday, I loved the atmosphere, especially going on boats out in the sea. And Ouzo12... Got to love the Ouzo. Taramasalata is something I only tried when I was in the UK surprisingly, pity I never got to taste a genuine Greek taramasalata but alas. Sainburys make a reasonably good one
When I was on holiday in America my American friend thought she'd found some Taramasalata for me... Turned out to be Salmon cheese paste... like, the fuck?

I love olives. I go to Whole Foods and get seasoned olives and I could just eat them all day....I don't, but I could.

Sounds like it would be the perfect accompaniment to something like the gas station Steak and Cheese Biscuit that Jeremy found on the Top Gear American Special.
Budget surf and turf.

Fishycheesypaste?? Bleeeeeuuuurgh. So much American food just tastes like horrible ersatz plastic goo. Just slam in half a gallon of high fructose corn syrup and it'll be reet. Nope nope nope. Give me fresh ingredients cooked well with herbs and spices any day. So many fat people can't cook because they have lost their taste buds to junk.

There's hot...then there's hot and humid and I will not give up my AC
I eat lighter fare in the hot months. I can't eat stews, hit soups, pot roasts, etc. too heavy. I eat cold cuts, raw veggies, fruit, and yogurt in the summer.

Summer in Cyprus is 40 degrees celsius and so humid your washing won't dry on the line, so yeah I get it! Nothing against AC in principle- I couldn't have slept without it some nights- but not when people use it as an excuse to not acclimatise, which includes changing your diet to eat suitable foods for the temperature, which my holiday to Florida indicated that many people do not...
