Here's a Harvard article on the subject. In summary, it's been shown that trans people's brains have the gender markers of the gender they identify as -- not the one they were born with. It could be argued that it's mental illness if you wanted, but the fact is that this is a physical, measurable disability that is remedied by just letting the person identify outwardly as the gender they are.

disclaimer: There's a trans person in my family. After struggling to be her assigned gender for 50 years (believing it could be conquered), she transitioned and she's like a whole new person. She used to be closed off and angry. Now she's open, kind, and visibly so much happier. So I'm not unbiased.

Or, you know, the hormones they're taking result in physical changes. But don't that let interfere with pushing an agenda. Btw, I love hearing men in dresses tell me that being a woman is all about "feeling like a woman" and dressing sexy and wearing tons of makeup. Even though I have two x chromosomes, I guess that means I'm not a woman because I don't do those things. Guess it means I should have a sex change!

Yes, gender disphoria has been recognized as a mental disorder for years now and transitioning doesn’t seem to help their suicide rates all.

Keep sticking your head in the sand. Doesn't mean scientific studies are wrong.
