This bothers me too. I don't understand why the goal is to eat more without consequence. The goal is supposed to be to learn to be satisfied with a normal amount. This idea completely ignores the fundamental problem and only tries to act as a band aid. This is like buying a helmet so it hurts less to smash your head against the wall instead of just stopping with the head smashing.

Not always. Sometimes you need to eat a significantly less than normal amount before you have to learn how to be satisfied with a normal amount. Remember the whole calories in/calories out thing. Eating a normal amount for your ideal body mass will result in only a slight weight loss for someone who is pretty close to being a normal human (obviously it's going to make a huge difference for an obeast, but that's a different case).
