A general rule of thumb is for the rider and saddle to weigh 10-15% of the horse's weight. Most barns have a weight limit of about 200 pounds (which is usually far higher than it should be).

I agree with you entirely, dedicated rides are extremely fit and athletic. These fats don't use the muscles required for proper riding technique and their fat probably gets in the way of them even attempting to ride the right way. I do apologize if I came off as calling real riders lazy, that was not my intention. 🙏🏼
