Is this meant to be a bad thing? Grocery stores are an automatic profit maker (everyone will always need food) and Walmart killed tonnes of small business, who cares if they have their profits cut?

To be fair, I don't think the proposed legislation I read is much better. It sounds like the cuts aren't cutting food amounts. The proposed plan talks about pre-packaged foods being available in kits to recipients, but they didn't factor the logistics (the most expensive part of that plan) into their budget. So...I wouldn't expect it to make anyone less fat nor would I expect it to reduce the cost we pay to be unwilling feeders.
