Forgive me choir, for I am about to preach...
I REALLY don't understand this trend that offensive=wrong. I don't think it is meant to be understood.
Just like people who try to whitewash history, or people that support book burning/banning.....it's just bizarre, psychotic behavior that people are willing to engage in, in order to encroach (like fat-spreading) their 'safe space' into areas reserved for - at the very least - intelligent and open discussion, even though this is COLD HARD FACTS they are trying to argue against.
DIfficult to swallow the news that you are your own worst enemy? That you are hurting yourself? That you hurt others? That you have less value (value to one's self does not equal value to society at large)? That you are weak to change? ----- Find some introspection and critical thinking. If "everything is wrong with the world", there is probably a common denominator - YOU.
It's infantile behavior. It's WILLFUL IGNORANCE.
How can people possibly expect their lives/minds/hearts/souls/etc. to grow, enrich, and prosper if they sit in a tiny echo chamber where they only reinforce their own thoughts? The cyclical logic. The mental gymnastics. The security of bias confirmation.
UGH.
