I honestly think this is one of the reasons society is "ok" with the high level of water pollution we have right now. (Yes, it's all water. No, your bottled water isn't special.) People have no idea that they need to drink it! They don't even consider that water is part of everything they consume because it's "that stuff in the toilet bowl."
Fun Fact: Did you know that you can legally flush radioactive waste down the toilet? How many waste treatment plants do you think remove radioactive waste during the treatment process?

Yeah, I mean, there isn't really "new water" so you can assume pretty much all water is contaminated with something. It's just a surprise to find out with what! There were some laws during the Obama administration that required public reporting of this but I guess someone put a stop to that.
