I was at a high school for an open house. There were class pics from the 50s in the hall. Within earshot of plenty of hams I said "Wow they're all skinny. They must have good genetics."

I get called naturally thin all the time and that I couldn't get fat if I tried. I tell these people that no if I ate more then I would gain weight just like eating less makes me lose weight. I have a skinny male friend who says he eats heaps but can't gain weight, I tell him that he is obviously burning enough calories to maintain his weight or overestimating how much he eats. These people are reasonably smart but have been saying these things for so long now they believe them and since they don't hate fats like I do they don't bother educating themselves about calories.

I know when I drink and eat more I gain weight and vice-versa when losing weight. Who would have thought!?

It takes away any validation that I have control over my food consumption but to these people since I have never been over-weight they all just think I was born thin and always will be. Pisses me off.

Yeah I hate those comments with a passion. I am naturally thin like everyone is, and naturally my body prevents me from getting fat by telling my stomach it's full. Nowadays, due to medication, that part doesn't work anymore (the signal that I'm full). So I have to track my calories to stay thin. If a ham tells me I just have good genetics I want to beat them to death with a scale.

Everyone is naturally thin because we all have hormonal and neurological cues that try to keep us that way and not the opposite. When you gain weight, you stop feeling hungry and your brain starts screaming about how fat you are becoming. That's how it is for me anyway. To become fat, you have to resist everything your body can throw at you short of passing out. There is nothing natural about fighting literally your natural urges to be some of the best evolution could produce.

They can be but only because the hammy mother is eating for 5. Nourish baby not enlarge baby.

You’re born naked and you die naked though

Legit. Sometimes I think about the amount of time/effort/money it would take to get to/maintain 300+lbs and I'm amazed that so many people take this route. Just...how.

I've been told by my family that people would do anything to be as "skinny" as I am.

Yeah, they're willing to do anything but put down the fork and get off their ass a few times a week.
