if he doesn't I'll still confront the fatty about it, I don't care

Stick it lardo but don't let this shit be known in public. If you give her shit over it and she starts telling everyone about it, how is that going to make your friend feel?

maybe I should call his parents,

If he's living on his own, has a real job (I mean not a 2 hour shift somewhere 3 times a week set up the government), and doesn't have someone come in to take care of him, like a special needs person who helps him take care of the house and makes sure he's taking his meds, I would definitely not involve other people in this.

You want to fix it for him, and I'd love it if you did, but I wouldn't bring other people into it if he's a functioning adult. Sounds like he's scared of what people will think if they know what happened to him, it's better for you to be a friend who is there for him than someone who is trying to deal with the pig that assaulted him. If you can get him to call the cops, great. If not it's "hey brother I still love you" and move on with him.

But just for clarification purposes, I am drinking bourbon so I may not have the best advice.

I'm glad I can help him just by being supportive.

You absolutely can.
