Okay, I know I've been posting a ton on this forum, but having lived with a fat roommate for a while and not having anywhere to vent my frustration at the sheer fat-person-things she'd do has bottled everything up inside of me. Anyways, buckle yourselves in a for a tale of laziness, one that shows that even the most well-meaning fat person can't get anything done.
I lived with this roommate for three university terms (so, 12 months in total). Before anyone asks why I didn't talk to her about the things I'll be complaining about in a second - the first two terms it wasn't bad enough for me to notice/bring it up with her, and by the end of the third term I knew I'd be leaving soon so I really didn't care anymore. If I had stayed longer, I definitely would have discussed it with her.
My roommate was a terrible housekeeper. When I first moved in, we agreed that we'd take care of our own things (laundry, dishes, keeping our rooms clean) and we divided two other tasks - I would vacuum, she would clean the bathroom. Everything seemed to be fairly clean for the first two terms, or maybe I just didn't notice any mess, but it was the third term that her sloppiness really kicked in. When I returned from summer break at the start of third term and did my vacuuming, I noticed how much hair and dust there was everywhere and mentally groaned because I thought that it was just the amount that gathered after a week or two. Now I realize that she probably hadn't vacuumed the place in months, and that was why there was so much dust everywhere. I always washed my dishes immediately - I didn't really use the dishwasher because I didn't use enough dishes to need it, and they'd be sitting in the dishwasher for five or six days at a time, which is just gross. She would pile up all of her dishes on her side of the sink (the sink was the type that was partitioned into two sections, meaning we each had a side) and wouldn't touch it for days. Whenever she ran the dishwasher, she never took the dishes out afterwards - they would sit there for up to a week, and then I'd just take them out. She also piled all of her massive Diet-Coke-drinking cups on the counter because there was no room in the sink, and then she'd have the nerve to tell me that 'she likes the counter clean' and complain when I didn't immediately wipe up any of my discarded crumbs. Apart from never vacuuming the house, she also very rarely did her agreed duty - cleaning the bathroom. I vacuumed the bathroom, too, so all she had to do was clean the toilet/sink/bath and maybe wipe any dust off of the surfaces, but she probably did that once every two or three months. All of this was worsened by the fact that she had two cats, and if you own a fur-shedding pet you know that their fur clings to every surface and requires constant cleaning. She never dusted anything, I don't think, so there were just layers of dust, hair, and cat fur everywhere, and I genuinely think it didn't bother her in the slightest until it became really bad. I ended up dusting whenever I saw a particularly gross surface because, although I'm also not the cleanest person, gray surfaces on everything are disgusting. Cat hair also constantly got on my clothes, and I remember once when I was using a lint roller to clean my pants before we left for the grocery store, she commented, "Who cares about cat hair on your clothes, we're just going to the store." Well, maybe she didn't care, but I still care somewhat about my appearance and don't want to go out in public with ginger fur all over my black clothes. She did her laundry regularly, at least, but even then she complained about having to do it, I suspect because it involved having to go down a flight of stairs to the laundry room (and we all know what fat people knees are like). I know from reading some stories here and on other boards that my experience with fat-person cleaning has absolutely NOTHING on some of the horrors other people have faced, but I still think her way of housecleaning was gross, made grosser by the fact that she obviously didn't even notice how nasty the place could become.

Ew, roaches? What, did they leave food festering in their room?
