I know you awesome people have talked about vanity sizing for a long time now, but I think it's just getting worse. I've been losing a bit of weight recently from marathon training, switching from a desk job to being on my feet, and consistent meal planning. My BMI is 21, so I'm not ridiculously small or anything, but I am 5'1" so I have to adjust slightly when I'm shopping (petite sections and stuff). Old Navy has Rockstar jeans that are a lot shorter than most brands, and they typically fit decent. My size 4s have been swimming on me, so I went to get a few pairs of 2s. Out of 5 displays full of jeans, I think there were a total of 6 pairs of size 2 jeans. There were countless size 12-14. None of the ones in my size were cute at all, so I tried Target because I've always liked their clothes. My mom and I were just discussing how lately, all fashion is massively loose-fitting tops. It's all flowy and shapeless and just sacks, and that couldn't be more true than at Target. I wear an XS at most places and even those nearly fall off of me. I found a pair of size 2 high waisted jeans at Target to try on, and almost grabbed a 00, but I figured they'd be too small. To me, 00 has always been pretty teeny, I feel like I'm just slim. Oh my god the 2s were GIGANTIC. The waist was 3-4 inches too big, they made my ass completely disappear, and there was just so much room in weird places! It was honestly depressing because I'm really liking how my body has been looking, but it's getting legitimately hard to go shopping. Thankfully H&M is still a little more true to size, but good god. Fuck the fats for ruining fashion.
