Nothing gets me more than fats using the term "starving." I KNOW people who have been aid workers in places where actual starvation takes place - the stories they tell, how your stomach distends, etc. - are chilling. They've seen actual starvation and what comes with it. No fatass can starve - their bodies could run off reserves for weeks. I will call people out every single time for unironic use of the term "starving" and will never feel bad about it.

Wow, that is amazing. I knew they could survive a long time, but nothing like that.

But it's telling that he did that in the 1960s and, at less than 500 pounds, was considered horrifically obese and he went into a hospital pleading for help. Today, he'd just be a "big boy." There are thousands in that size range.

Same with the abject horror fat people have with drinking gasp water. Going without water is pure horror, and it's the reality for a whole lot of people in the world. Meanwhile some people are so spoiled that just the merest idea of their drinks not tasting like dessert freaks them out.

I have this one slightly overweight coworker who keeps saying telling me exactly what she's eating and whatnot. Just the other day, it was trying to get me to endorse some "protein-packed" pie recipe or something. When I told it that it needed to stop snacking and switch to almost all water-only liquid intake, it looked at me like I was insane.

Why are you having a child on an income too low to avoid healthy fucking food??

No kidding. I can't afford real food but I can afford to raise a child?

Because they want what they want and they want it now and don't think of the consequences.

Nothing makes you lose sympathy for self inflicted injuries of any kind like seeing how people deal with them in worst case scenarios.

That midwife is an idiot, she should have told this woman to have an abortion.

That would probably be met with a lawsuit, sadly.

If the midwife has a professional duty to do no harm, and this woman is incapable of birthing and raising someone who will not be a useless burden to society, then doesn't the midwife have a professional duty to speak up?

At 24 weeks, it's already gained more than I did my entire pregnancy. And my son was 8 lbs 5 oz so definitely not a small baby. And I was back to my normal weight (minus a few extra pounds cuz breastfeeding) within a month. It's amazing what happens when you don't use pregnancy as a Carte Blanche to stuff yourself full of sugar.

Will say it again. Having problems conceiving, because of PCOS. It makes me furious to see undeserving hams getting pregnant and raising a child in a ruined body, possibly with gestational diabetes :(

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Hope you have some luck soon.

After having my baby I weighed 7 lbs more than I did pre pregnancy and lost that within a couple weeks. I don't understand people who put on so much it takes months to get it off.

Right?? And honestly, once the kiddo is going enough they're squashing your stomach to fraction of its size- I was eating half portions at that point! That "starving" feeling isn't actual hunger, it's just cravings- if she knew how to differentiate...
