A quick google of high school obesity rates was really depressing. It's pretty bad all over the US. But holy shit is the south in particular in rough shape. Almost 20% of the high school kids in Mississippi are obese. Not "just" overweight level fat, but flat out obese. And the best ranking in the US goes to Montana, with 10% of high school kids in the obese range. Adding to that the average estimate of overweight level fats was around 16%. So some states are edging into 40% of the kids in high school being fat.

The state of all obesity rates is really depressing, check out the stats from 1990 and compare them with those from the present day. I had no idea the shift was so drastic.

Those numbers really are. Just think the first class of fat kids only graduated in 2000 (when half the states hit 10 percent or higher obesity) so we dont even know how bad the obesity epidemic is really going to be because they are still in the young enough the body is still fighting stage.
