Just for the record, my best friend competed for a couple of years, completely naturally. I was thoroughly impressed with her discipline. It helped that her boyfriend at the time also competed. But it's definitely not healthy what they did leading up to the competitions. She doesn't compete anymore and is much healthier both mentally and physically. But some of the methods used to drop the final body fat percentage at the end or refusing to drink water for days at a time leading up to competition (which can be seen in the documentary) were hard to watch her do. Having seen it all first hand, I would argue that moderation is better for you than what those athletes out their bodies through.
