Unless you're drinking 6 day then i actually doubt this, and even so everything in moderation. Literally in the article it says "While the findings do not prove that diet drinks damage brains, they support other studies that show people who drink them frequently tend to have poorer health." Hams always try to cut corners and prove that they're "not that bad" so i'm unsurprised at those findings. I have a feeling that fats will try and use this as an excuse to drink the overly unhealthy other version.

The article is click bait, like you said it contradicts itself. I think it's more to do with Hams using diet soda as an excuse to eat more crap. Like "hey, it's ok to eat two large pizzas to myself because I'm washing it down with diet soda". Hence the higher cancer rate and general shit health.
