Back in the day, the two types of diabetes were "juvenile" and "adult," but thanks to childhood obesity, this didn't really fit. Then they changed the names to "insulin-dependent" and "non-insulin dependent," but that didn't work either because some of the obeasts managed to make their diabetes bad enough to require insulin. Really they should classify them by their causes, like "autoimmune diabetes" and "obesity-related diabetes."

I remember hearing those terms all the time when younger but I never put 2 and 2 together to know that they became type 1 and type 2 or whatever.
