This cat died, from the rescue's facebook page

The Cat Shoppe suffered a tremendous loss last night. Our beloved Buddha unexpectedly passed away quietly from congestive heart failure. He had recently been diagnosed with a congenital heart defect. He was not able to continue water therapy and was placed in a loving foster home. Five months ago today Buddha arrived at the Cat Shoppe from Metro Animal Control. Little did we know how much of an impact and inspiration he would have on us and all of you. Buddha lived life to the fullest and had such determination. He was cared for by some of the best Doctors in town. Dr. Lisa Martin and the staff at Animalia / Stonewater Rehab were wonderful and instrumental in helping Buddha achieve a healthier weight. His cardiologist, Dr. Nicole Piscitelli, Dr. Doug King, and Blue Pearl Veterinary Partners were always there for him. We cannot thank them enough for loving and caring so much for Buddha! And to all of you who have stopped by the shop to ask about how he was doing, had your pictures made with him, donated loyally to his care, we thank you! Our bouncy Buddha cat has been stilled but his spirit lingers on!! He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed! It’s our hope Buddha will not have died in vain. We hope that his story inspires owners of obese cats to help them get them on a path to a healthier weight. We will be having a celebration of life for him at Monell's next to the Cat Shoppe on December 14th at 7pm-8pm.

My Cheddar got a bit fat after I adopted him (we didn't know he was a timed feeder and he horked for the first couple weeks) Got him a Slimcat feeder ball and lessened his kibble. He's been healthy weight for a while now. He's a 13lb ragdoll. He's a good boy and loves to cuddle. I make sure his weight is healthy because I love him and want to have many years with my snuggle buddy! I got him when he was 4, he's now 6, 7 in September.

Poor thing, I just want to rescue him from his most assuredly piggish owner. What do you want to bet the pig will be too lazy to take "buddah" back to the clinic and continues to overfeed him?

Fuck man, no animal deserves to be so overfed that it hurts their health! Animal abuse, seriously!

The little contraption there makes me think though. We should have a similar program for human fatties. Strap em in a harness, put them on a treadmill and leave em there at least 8 hours a day. But if they refuse to start eating like normal humans, make it 16 hours a day. .... I wouldn't want to be the plumber in such a hypothetical establishment though.

Lol good idea, pretty sure they had the cat on there 3 times a day for 7 minutes, maybe a realistic time for the fatties will be something like 3 times a day for an hour and a half? They should have to eat before, too, so they puke up all their food after about 10 minutes of walking.

The cat only needs to lose maybe 10lb, so they're going slow. Most fatties have at least 100lb to lose. Actually that's probably closer to 200lb on average. 8hrs a day of walking is like a nice hike. Sure, maybe half an hour break at noon, but still 8hrs. Humans are made for this kinda shit too, we've evolved to be able to cover long distances, at a good steady pace.

My cat gained a quarter of a pound so I switched his cat food flavor. I think he liked "red meat" a little too much. So it's back to duck flavor for him.

Also, did anyone notice the fat dog in the reflection?

NOTHING MAKES ME ANGRIER than fat pets and fat kids. It's not enough that you're ruining your health? You have to ruin the lives of those around you too? And the poor thing died.
