Dammit, fatties probably uploaded child pornography on it to get it taken down, just like they did with FatPeopleHate on reddit and one other image hosting site.

Fatries truly are depraved, mentally ill animals. Feefees hurt? Time to upload child porn! So fierce!

Their personalities are rotten and disgusting just like their outsides.

Where the hell do they even get child porn to upload on an image hosting site that hurt their precious feelings!?

That happened on the old slimg.ur site, and technician90 built the new one (sli.mg) and had put in place some safeguards so it couldn't happen again. Unfortunately he's been absent from FPH for a while

Slimgr was taken down for that reason.

That's the one. I was pretty sure it was Slimgur but wasn't positive so I just said image hosting site.

.... Wait, what? That's what happened to FPH?

Fuck. I feel a little less bad about disliking them so much. (Guilt fluctuates. Lessened now that I know someone used images of child abuse, and actively hunted for said images. Jesus Christ.)

The https site isn't working, but the regular http one is. The security certificate probably expired.

Lets pretend I'm super computer illiterate..... What is the difference between the https and http site, besides the s?

@Gigan, you're giving me some hope.

https traffic is encrypted, so it's more secure. For a site owner to run https, they need to buy a certificate from a certificate authority. The certificates generally need to be renewed every year, so if someone forgets to renew it, shit breaks.

It's not gone, it's just broken? http://sli.mg/

The https links aren't working.

That worked! Remove the https. Thanks!

This is happening to me too. Last I heard @technician90 has not been active on Voat in several months

Thank you for calling their attention. Hopefully they'll sign in and see they're sorely needed! I'll be so sad if sl.img's gone the way of its brother sites!

Granted I don't know an awful lot about computers or creating websites, but it could just be something temporary like a server has gone down.

It really is frustrating to lose all the content just because the host died.

And this is why, no matter how good a site is, you should always have redundancy & variety. Everybody says "Fuck imgur - use sli.mg". The actual reply should be "Pick any host you like, just don't all pick the same".

We all know how image-hosting sites work:

  • They start out free, because they hate the existing offerings.
  • They realize storing images and serving the bandwidth is expensive.
  • They add adverts.
  • They add "community" to make you click around and view the adverts.
  • They get slow and unreliable as bandwidth is expensive.
  • They become shit.

Then the cycle repeats as a new host is born. "Hey storing images is easy, and I can do it better".

I can take over the sites and hosting if need be. My servers are in a pretty bulletproof colo since they're mostly adult pay sites.

Assuming that's actually needed.

Damn fatties.

If you're happy to do so, that would be amazing. Is there anything that you'd need from us to help?

Unfortunately to actually fix it, everything would have to be transferred, including the domains. I'd need to be in touch with the actual owner of everything.

This sort of thing has happened before and to other sites. It's usually temporary so I wouldn't stress for a little while yet.

It's a weird coincidence for me this happened shortly after our front page Donald roast... and so close to inauguration too... mebbe I'm losing it.
