I know some fat people do manage to combine exercise and a proper diet to get to a normal size. But I have to imagine it's a pretty small percentage. It just seems so overly ambitious to tackle two things they couldn't handle before at the same time instead of concentrating on one. And in particular the one which wouldn't involve what's presumably over a 100lbs of extra weight bearing down on bones which had suffered severe injury in the recent past. It doesn't shock me so much that someone would decide to do it. But it is crazy how far down the people patting themselves on the back you have to go before finding someone who touches on the fact that she should probably try eating less before getting serious about working out.

Exactly, I lost all of my excess weight by eating less. Once I reached my goal weight, I started working out and continue to do so, and it's so much easier and you see results so much quicker when you're already slim to begin with.

This exactly. Exercise just gives these people an excuse to eat. They are better off cutting calories. When they "work out" then they also think it's okay to drink that milk shake or three because they "worked out".
