I worked in a place that sold coffee stuff as well as bagels/muffins. So not only did I have to make 1k calorie drinks, I also had to give out 10 muffins twice the size of my fist to families of obeasts. One time this tub of lard forced her kid to eat a full one and it was disguising to watch. "people are starving in Africa" is what she kept saying..

Sometimes people in my nation still use the "kids are starving in Africa" line as well. But it's really only the lower class people. Polite society has an answer for that line: "Ik heb genoeg, waartoe de rest? Men dient gevoed en niet gemest." = "I've had enough, what use is the rest? One needs to be fed, not fattened up."

And imagine what would happen if a mother was punching her child at the same place. She'd be yelled at, held down, the news would probably be all over it. When it doesn't take place immediately though child abuse seems to be fine.

Well it takes years to develop into something life threatening, so it's cool. /s.

As a side note, HIV takes years to develop into something life threatening, so infecting others now, no biggy. /s

Ya I worked in fast food and guilty isn't the right word but it does suck to be in the situation where you're providing that service. It's not your fault though it's the parents.

You gotta do what you gotta do for money and in the context of a franchise like Starbucks if you quit someone else will take your place. I really really hate parents who enable their kids to become fat though, I Want to deck them in the schnoz.

Same here man. For the most part I dig the "don't hit women" rule but as soon as I see these fat little children I start imagining beating the hell out of whoever is killing them.

I've been in some form of retail all my life, and as a teenager I did fast food and even starbucks. You are in no way responsible for their poor choices. Those choices are available for everybody. I occasionally like to treat myself to a double mocha with whole milk and whipped cream. Is it healthy? Of course not. Do I do it every day? Nope, can't remember the last time I had one actually. But I like having the option available to have a nice treat once in awhile, and for me it's a super special occasion when I do get to enjoy one.

Don't sacrifice your job, or your income, for these shitty disgusting pigs. You are in no way condoning their behavior by doing your job. They are abusing the place, and that is absolutely not your responsibility in any way, shape, or form.

Think of all the hot girls you serve coffee and skinny drinks to! They don't deserve to lose your service because of the fats either.

It's sickening, but I can tell you that you will find disgusting behavior in any customer service related job. All CS jobs will eventually make you hate people, because you are pretty much constantly exposed to this sort of BS.

Thanks for the outlook man! Retail in the mall had the same effect. Hopefully within a year I'll land something IT related.

I feel you... I posted about this earlier but I have a 400lb aunt visiting and her 8 year old son is the same weight as me (140lbs) plus her 5 year old daughter is probably around 70lbs. I don't care as much about her, but I feel so bad that those kids don't have anyone to tell them stop eating so they keep piling food into their mouth. I took them on a walk and they got tired so fast it made me sad :(

I've got a similar situation. My nephew weighs as much as I do. He is 12 I think, and I am 20. He was diagnosed with diabetes a year or two ago. His parents continue go let him drink as much diet pop as he wants, overeat at every meal, and play video games all day long. It's disgusting. It makes me sick to see them ruin his health.

Sorry, but the "I was only doing my job" defense didn't work in Nuremberg, and it doesn't work here. There is salvation, however, brother! You can use your position to bring down the beast from within. Water down EVERYTHING. Scientific fact: obeasts are incredibly allergic to the "taste" of water. This will, at best, train them to stop coming in, and maybe even shutter the store. At worst, you're still reducing your hand in 'beetus distribution by 50%. Also, if for some reason Starbeetus actually makes their pastries fresh (though I assume it all arrives prepackaged and frozen) just stop adding sugar or sweeteners to the mix. A couple of salty pound cakes should curtail even the hammiest.

Just kidding. Hang in there long enough to get a decent amount of customer service and sales experience, then go apply to a gym or vitamin store and be sure to emphasize how you feel impassioned about spreading the gospel of health. Expect to see many fatties, but you will no longer be their enabler. Bonus: become a Certified Personal Trainer; get paid to shitlord professionally!

Man any time I make a drink for a fatass they get decaffed. It's only the small things we can do.

I think this may be part of the reason that FPH was banned from reddit. Maybe they didn't want people talking negatively about their sponsors. There was too much FailCorporate going on in FPH.

IMO Starbucks is pretty terrible. Use viral marketing to lure people in by making them think it's trendy and hip then hook them with a high concentration of caffeine sugar and fat. It's a whole new level of beetus juice.

The greatest damage starbucks has done was trick the world that a milkshake was coffee.

Unfortunately there's not much you can do day-to-day, but keep flying the anti-HAES flag and hopefully these issues can be tackled at a societal level so food service employees everywhere don't need to watch parents feeding their kids into an early grave.

There should be an age limit on those things o.O Imagine that, starbucks checking your ID.

Meh, I could get behind a waiver, but not regulations.

Imagine having to sign a shameful waiver about how you are endangering your children. You would even risk a visit from CPS

I think you mean a minimum age, but I agree. Those children are too young to understand it's hurting their health.
