I love the "fast food is cheap" answer. A combo meal costs around 10 bucks base. 10 bucks is chicken, potatos rice and beans for 5 days easy.

I don't get it either. I grabbed some burgers & fries from a local take out place last night (so not a chain) for my husband and I, and 2 burgers, 1 large fry, and a large coke cost about $21 with the tax. $20 is cold cuts for the whole week from our local deli (turkey, corned beef, prosciutto, cheese) There's no way a fast food meal is cheaper than buying some ingredients and making things yourself.

Yeah... I don't try to eat especially cheaply, and I'm somewhat picky about healthy foods, but I still pay less than $2.50 per meal I think, on average. I'm sure I could still scrape by on a budget like that if I were eating only at fast food restaurants, but it wouldn't be fun. Big Macs are $4 each these days apparently? Too expensive for me right there, and I didn't even get any fries... nor the second burger I might want after my Big Mac because I'm burning too much energy lifting my super-cheap weights I bought from Walmart and riding my bike that I don't pay any money to put gas into (because I'm not a fat idiot).

Cheers, i bike commute even though I have a company van. Nice to get a few miles in the morning. Basically live on breakfast tacos or burritos, and some form of chicken or tuna or eggs.
