Age of consent in CA is sixteen, I don't think a redline on age is a good metric for determining if a relationship is creepy. People mature at different rates and cultural norms effect mental state which informs whether or not it's creepy, or equivalent reaction feeling.

(I'm almost 27, I haven't slept with a teenager since college, and don't really imagine I will ever again; nothing can make that ham un-creepy or human, bestiality is still illegal pretty much everywhere. Point being, I have no dog in this fight, but that's awfully vitriolic just based on the numbers 22 and 16. )

You may want want to re-google that.

If you just look up "Age of consent in California", you instantly get 18.

Some states have 16 or 17, but CA is not one of them.

Half your age plus seven, until you're on your late twenties, then whatever.

I didn't realize it was Canada. In the US, the age of consent is 18. But personally I can't possibly see a situation in which a 10th grader should be dating a college senior. Fats are immature. Points to the reason they want someone more childlike.
