It's annoying because you can't argue that EDs don't deserve support and aren't an issue. You also can't argue that fats are the sole cause because they aren't. So you end up diluting what should be a productive talk about the obesity crisis with talk about EDs which, if we're realistic, affect a politically insignificant amount of the population. The whole thing turns into a Tumblr jerk about how bad diet talk is and food obsession and fats use it as a pass. They belittle real victims in the eating disordered to keep being disgusting, lazy, and a burden.

Agreed, I'm also noticing a rise in the criticism for tackling childhood obesity with exactly those concerns... as if putting any child on a controlled diet would garner an ED every single time without fail, so you can't possibly mention weight for fear of upsetting 'feelings.' It's mostly projection based on self reported and tainted fatso-led liberal art fat studies diatribes.
