The fight against obesity is something I'm very passionate about. And it might be easy to fix. I don't understand why we haven't implemented nutrition courses in free public middle school. Especially in the remedial classes i.e. The people who have failed and are in the stupid classes.
I also don't understand why we no longer have cooking courses and the like. Most of the fats arguments against us come from a place of uneducation and ignorance. For example, "healthy food is too expensive". We all know it isn't because we have a high enough IQ to look it up and do math. These courses could show adolescents the proper amount of nutrition they need to be their best, how to cook satisfying easy meals that aren't McDonald's, and how much all of it costs. To grade the course the students would have to keep a food journal and their body progress would be tracked throughout the year. If there were slip ups the teacher would meet with them and explain how exercise plays a role, how metabolisms work, and how continuing the lifestyle will have negative effects.
We have sex Ed. We used to have D.A.R.E. Why don't we have something like this?

I don't know if I wrote it correctly, but... yes. If you're a healthy weight, fit and on healthy food, a sugar-loaded homemade muffin, or your mom's lemon pie is not going to hurt you. If you're trying to lose weight, you should stay the hell away from complex carbs such as flour, pasta, and especially sugar. The only thing more demonic than sugar are trans fats, and normally they go hand in hand in industrial bakery. If a person has gotten to +30 pounds and unable to cut the gaining of weight, they are addicted to that type of food. Eating a bit is not a good idea. Best go cold turkey until ideal weight is achieved and maintained for at least three months.

I know it's possible, but that is AFTER you've built your self-discipline and self-control. Some people can eat half a muffin for lunch, stop there because that's their calorie allowance for the day, and keep the other half muffin for tomorrow. And mind you, that's great. It's like those people who can smoke two cigarrettes a month and not become addicted. However, people who are overweight do not have the self discipline to do that. If they eat at McDonalds every day, they are likely to keep the weight. I guess another good option could be focusing on self-discipline. It's a trait that can be trained as muscles are: with bigger challenges every day. It's been removed from the educational system, and only taught by willing parents (most of them Asian). It should be brought back.
