A friend of my sister appeared at my sister's house during my visit there. My sister's friend's kid was only in a diaper (though, in this case, the weather was about 27°C/80°F). I commented on the kid's lack of clothes, and the mom nonchalantly responded: "There's no point in putting clothes on them. They just get them dirty, anyway, and you're always taking them off and putting fresh ones on. It's a waste of effort."

I shot an unambiguous look of disgust in her direction.

Needless to say, my kid ALWAYS had [clean] clothes on. Never once did she just have a diaper on.

If it's hot out and they're at home or the beach, I can see someone (not) dressing a baby in nothing but a diaper. I'm into FKK/nudism and am currently dressed in my birthday suit - but I wouldn't go to the grocery store or a strangers home like this, and I wouldn't bring an infant in a similar state of undress.

And how hard is it to bring a change of clothes for your baby? The clothes are so tiny and cute! It probably takes up less space than shoving an adult sized hoodie in your bag in case the weather turns cool.
