I'm going to give this guy the benefit of the doubt and try to turn him into a shitlord over time. All of my lady friends are, and we make fun of fat girls a lot. So if he ever tries to bring them along, I'll bring my shitlady squad with me, and it won't happen again

I ditched em. I don't go out a lot but when I do I don't feel like having to deal with everyone's options being limited because fatty gets out of breath just packing for a kayak trip and whines about everything the rest of the time.

Most of the rest ended up being cool with it. And a few I think were relieved that I was the dick so they didn't have to be.

Others, I just cut out of my life, no explanation needed. Just never bothered calling or talking to them again. Obviously those weren't "best friend" category, but then again, my closest friends are military and in good to excellent shape anyway.

Totally worth it, would recommend.

I have ditched some. Honestly not because they got fat, but because of the asshole part or their stupidity, narcissism, etc. There's always a mental component to fatness.

It's kind of like that car analogy where if you're skinny, you may be sick and if you're fat, you are sick. But replace sick with shitty personality. You'd probably see hints of selfishness in them now if they're prone to being fat.

I think using the term beta makes you look like a 4chan neckbeard, so maybe cool it with the machismo bullshit. You're not verified, so I suspect you might be a fatty.

True, but replace 'beta' with 'pushover' or 'doormat' and you've got to admit he's got a point. He didn't stand up for you or to you at all. It's not a quality that I find attractive in anyone, male or female.

I get you're defending the guy, but I actually agree with Dougal_Mchaggis. I think he was behaving very 'beta', as per the trendy terminology nowadays. However, you probably don't know him well enough to really know one way or the other; guys get nervous around girls and he probably had no idea if this conversation was some sort of trap, lol. I can only imagine the daily REEEEs he must be exposed to, so he's used to walking on eggshells around women.

The nice thing about most men is that they do contain testosterone, so, you never know, he might start to show it once he gets to know you better.

My reaction to this story was also that he seemed like a bit of a pushover. Then again, you're the one sharing this tale, so I'm inclined to trust your judgement and give you the benefit of the doubt. If he starts asserting himself more as the relationship blossoms then you're totally in the clear. Just give it some time.

You sound like you have some balls. Thank goodness, even this place seems to be seeing a hair or two, on an oversized neck.

We take our fat hatred for granted. Do you remember before you were a shitlord? I was neutral toward fat people until I saw the light, and now I'm fat hating zealot to the core. It was a slow transition. Give this guy time. He's a product of our shitty society, but he seems to have his mind open to hating. A beautiful woman can have a big impact, too. Let's give it time.

Also, in my experience there is the issue of the fatness spectrum and what is "average".

It's very easy to be disgusted with and hate something that would be spherical if it wasn't for the action of gravity, but it's another thing entirely to hate the ordinary fat you see everywhere every day. Even most non-fat people are desensitised to fat people, it's seen as "just one of those things" and accepted. If everyone could look at the status quo and vocally say that it is unacceptable, it wouldn't be the status quo.

From what OP said about these "friends", they are obese and complacent about it. If he is fit and going through med school he must hold himself to a high standard of work ethic and self control. All he needs to do is to realise it is OK to hold other people to a similar standard as he holds himself, and he will be well on his way to shitlord.

But why does he keep the bariatric friends? What does he do with them? what does he gain from their friendship? Does he know that they want something more from him? did you ask him what the fuck the deal was about driving a cow home and leaving you to take a taxi? I'm not sure I would want to hang out with somebody who not only keeps fats around, but favors them over you. It shows poor taste and judgement. Be careful.

People on here made a huge deal over the uber thing, and to be honest, that didn't bother me as much. I chose to get a cab, he didn't force me to. And I insisted as to not put him in the awkward position to choose. But I think he just needs new friends. He works a lot and doesn't have time to meet people, so I hope to introduce him to peers and get him away from fats. He used to do competitive body building, so he will probably wake up once he's around normal people.

It wouldn't surprise me if he hangs out with them because they do all the work planning things, inviting him places. After all, he's hot and they're desperate. Everyone needs some social interaction and hanging with the pod is probably the least effort on his part.

But you can offer him so much more because you weigh so much less. Hopefully it's a sea change for him.
