I'd imagine it wouldn't be worth it for most of them as specialized equipment( and maintenance) for lardbeasts would be too expensive.

I'm not saying it's common, just that I've heard of it happening. But who knows, it could be urban legend.

And a few zoos do have these machines. Bronx and Houston zoos definitely do. There's also veterinary schools.

With the population of major fats and deathfats being as big as it is in the NYC area, the Bronx Zoo could have a goldmine business doing MRI’s of the fats that can’t fit into human MRI machines.
