Wonder how those "but Marilyn Monroe was a size 242533 too!" beasts would react to this. No, enormously obese people were never considered attractive or desirable, even in the early 20th century.

Most offensive of all is that Goodwin's Weekly says that being fat is no better than being an alcoholic, and should have the same stigma.

"You can get rid of that fat if you'll quit feeding it."
Also, new word for my vocab - gormandize.

Fun fact: Gourmandise comes from the French word Gourmand, meaning to opposite of Gourmet. So, if Gormet is thoroughly enjoying small amounts of savory, delicious morsels, Gourmand is wolfing down enormous amounts of trashy food.

Daaaamn, old-fashioned shitlording is better than porn. Though it does offer a similarly shallow and temporary relief - sadly, no sooner am I energized by this vigorous fat hate, than I'm forced to look out the window at the waddling hordes of bloated degenerates that are slowly but surely clogging up the gears of society. Then I must admit with pain that such words have never been enough to slow the tide of butter. :(

It's almost depressing how recently obesity has become so normalized, if not preferred.
I work at a theme park and the overweights outnumber the normal weights.... the physically fit or really thin are a downright anomaly. Not to mention the fat fucks who feed their kids too much..... it's so saddening to see the number of young kids who should be enjoying their life to the full, but instead carry around FUPAs due to their parents' poor life choices.
While that should be child abuse, it's almost considered offensive to point that out. Fuck society.
Part of me can't wait for my country's (Canada) healthcare system to collapse so that the government is forced to face the facts despite majority being overweight. Trudeau seems like a shitlord, I hope? I guess we just have to wait and see.

I looked up "gink" (because I'd never seen the word before)
Perfect.

Yeah, this is a bounty of useful shitlording terminology.

'Twas a great time when newspaper not only would print that, but could print that without the full force of SJW terror coming down on their publication.

1917: "fat people are like drunkards" is perfectly acceptable.
2016: "fat people are like drunkards" is offensive and bigoted. "Fat people can't help it, they're socioeconomically deprived," on the other hand...

No such thing as SJWs in those days.

Not trying to be a dick, but:
I thought you'd want to know, since your post was about the IQ of people today VS people back then

It has been declining because stupid people pop out stupid shits way faster than smart people

I think our ancestors were generally better read and had broader vocabularies. They were also far more patient, but I don't know if they were necessarily smarter or wiser. For every historical shitlord I can find, I can also find the opposite. Like this - Advertisement - Groves Chill Tonic

There's plenty of advertisements from the past which sell ways to gain weight- mostly because malnutrition was a problem

Goodwin's Weekly was read by the right tail of the IQ bell curve. It's not representative of the guy at the pub.
I'm a hereditarian Jensenist, but I'm curious what your explanation for the Flynn Effect is.

Oh man, it's like prose and poetry made sweet love and this article was their baby.

imagine writing that (by 'that' I mean common sense) these days, you'd have every blue haired SJW of every gender baying for
