100 degree weather, sunny, 26 mile loop at the lake. Didn't see any eatbeasts at any of the trail heads except those with boat launches.
Until Sunday. Woke up and the puppy had walked through a briar/cactus/burr patch and couldn't stand up. The gf and I ended up pulling all the sharp stuff from her paw and slowly coxing her the 6 miles back to a trail head where i could run the last 6.5 miles to the car and drive back and pick them up.
Pup laid down 2 miles from the trailhead where they would wait for me and i ended up having to carry her and my 40 pound bag (excessive gear, was trying out a new tent system and brought other stuff just in case it didn't work out) pup weighs about 50 pounds.
Before you all start screaming animal abuse, yes we kept them hydrated, took many breaks in the streams and shade, and let them swim in the lake to keep both dogs cool.
Anyways. 2 miles and I end up slinging her across my shoulders on top of my pack, and walking with 90 pounds of gear and dog and water .
1.5 miles from the trail head it happened. The eatbeasts manifested. There was no help or assistance, there was just stares and comment over the puppy, "is that a wolf?" One sweat stained small fat asked, "ooh did you catch a wolf in there?" Exclaims a femayo with a leopard print sausage top and it's hair done up (on a single track trail, in 100 degrees) it and its mayo BF then try to ask if the trail would take them to the lake (the fucking trail goes all around the lake you stupid fucks) and pestering us while I am trying to grin and bear weight that I am not accustom to for too long of a distance. And then just stares from all the eatbeasts as we trudge down the trail. No encouragement, no offers of help, just stares and fucktarded commentary.
Btw I did carry the pup to the trailhead, the 2 dogs and the GF got a pleasant nap in the shade, and I busted the last 6 miles to the car. Then we went out for steak and salmon. Everyone is limping a little today, but everyone is safe. I guess thin privilege is carrying almost 2/3rds of your body weight for multiplw miles while fat asses stare at you and comment on you.

Eh 100 degrees is a little over kill, especially for the northern breeds.
Funny you say that... the GF's dog is a 35 pound Aussie mix and it is spooky. It is always fats that try to pet the dogs and inevitably get snapped at.

I am ignorant of what the northern breed dogs can handle heat wise. I have a German Shepherd mix and he used to (he's old now) handle the heat quite well. Live in the South so I see a few Huskies, Malamutes around here but not too many so I really stink at identifying those breeds/telling them apart. From the picture I thought Shepherd or Shepherd mix. Sorry! Like I said, Southerner so I suck at identifying northern breeds. I have a boxer so I have to be careful but yeah if you rested him a lot and let him get in the water I don't think it would be a big deal for him right now while he's young. Another year or two though and that won't be the case. My pitbull could handle it though no problem.

Husky, malamute and other... she actually did pretty good with the heat, just not sharp objects to the paw 🙁
Every Boxer I ever met was good to go for anything! Rofl, love the breed, energy and happiness and joy.
