Did it cut itself for sympathy? Or was it trying to let the marinade in?

As someone who's a (recovering) cutter, I can tell you that cutting is usually a sign of self loathing. But I've known plenty of girls who do it for attention and aren't addicted.

For me it was what I used to use to self medicate for my anxiety disorder. It would sound strange to those who haven't been there. But there is an endorphin rush that actually helps relieve the feeling of anxiousness. Fortunately I have turned to healthier options to manage this issue. But I am not without scars.

Keep it going! I'm struggling with a different but socially acceptable addition and it's SO hard. You're doing way better than me!

A close friend had a rough time and used to cut but she always tried to hide them wearing long sleeves etc... It stands out to me how she does not seem ashamed of showing them so I guess it's attention, or maybe they are not recent?

Btw, I'm dying with the marinade joke, savage!

They're purple, meaning they're semi recent. They all look about the same age as well. In my case I'm literally covered in scars and I live in the desert. Not sacrificing my comfort to hide my dumb scars - most of them are very faded anyways and it's no one else's business.

Whichever it was it wasn't deep enough.
