I used to work in a movie theater back in high school. I distinctly remember one slob who just wanted a free courtesy cup full of "butter" (partially hydrogenated soybean oil) with an ice cube in it. A "drink" for her.

Does this top mayo soup? I feel like this may top mayo soup.

I don't really think that we need to resort to making up shit like this. It doesn't ring true because fats want sugar drinks, and because "just wanted" implying they had nothing else and had to sit through a movie without the hand to mouth motion of snacks and sip a drink for 2 hours instead. Not possible.

Being in an isolated spot away from food temporarily, surely triggers their fears of starvation.

Ok I'm guilty here. Popcorn tastes only great in cinemas and I get the biggest size available (must be salty, sweet popcorn is disgusting). It's probably as important for my cinema experience as the movie^^ But keep in mind that I'm not from the US so probably our biggest sizes are different. I weighed it out, it's somewhat like 800kcal for the whole thing and I can eat from it for 3 days. And you might hate me for that but I find second day popcorn even tastier...

American here. Went with the family last xmass to see starwars. We ordered a "small" popcorn (for the price of a small car) to share amongst us four. We didn't finish it, it was simply too much for normal sized people. You could probably swim in our largest sizes.

If you get a small popcorn here you'd have eaten it before the film even starts :D Cinemas here can be crazy expensive too... A large popcorn and a drink is around 15€. And if you go to a 3-D movie on the weekend and get a good seat (we've different price categories) you pay 15,30€ just for ONE ticket. But if you don't mind shitty seating and going there on a monday or tuesday it can be much less expensive.

I feel you. I get the large (a size smaller than the xl which gets free refills) and I share it with my guest. I always have about half a bag to take home. I get butter. It's a nice treat every few months.

This!

My husband and I went to see it this weekend as well. The theater was jam packed with fats everywhere. We couldn't go 5 minutes without seeing a former human turned lard monster that made us cringe. It's getting really sad. I was making fun of the size of the large popcorn container in the front atrium and then saw about 75% of the people around us with them. The couple next to us finished almost half of theirs before the movie even started.

The movie theatre we went to some fat guy (no one else just him) had a large popcorn, large drink, nachos with extra cheese, and a large poutine. Oh and a bag of candy shoved in his sweater pocket. Couldn't see what it was.

I swear by the time the movie was done he ate it all.

I hate that stadium seating was designed when more people were a reasonable weight. It was amazing at the time because you could then walk in front of nearly everyone without anyone having to move. Now most people are a small planet with a few moons orbiting them and getting past them to get to your seat in the middle is a huge chore again. There is no way those fats understand just how completely ridiculous it is that they occupy that much space. They're too busy eating to think about it anyway.

I took my daughter as well and I agree it was very good! Almost better than the original? Anyway... My daughter and I share our small popcorn but my god. These hams were up and down the entire movie. They purposely get the large so they can refill it, same as the drinks. I just don't understand it. My kid and I couldn't even finish our small (which isn't all that small really). They of courSe were very distracting. Fats ruin everything.
