So I'm with my full Vietnamese grandma and my half Vietnamese dad. I'm only a quarter Vietnamese so I don't really feel like I belong because I don't look Vietnamese at all, so I'm a little quiet and just listening to their conversations. We're at my grandma's friend's pho' restaurant and we're all playing this dragon game. It's really fun and stressful. Anyways, the owner's niece or daughter (I'm not sure) comes up to the game table and sits down and starts eating chips. She's a small fat. Maybe a BMI of ~26. The owner (38 years old and gorgeous with a beautiful body) starts casually berating her, saying, "I'm worried about you, you're gonna have high cholesterol!"
My dad asks, "Who has high cholesterol?"
"Her! She is always eating. She never stops eating. She's so young. I'm just worried. Look at her!"
Then my grandma took the chips away from her. The girl laughed about it, but grabbed the chips back a few minutes later.
It's not that exciting of a story, but it really made my day to finally witness casual Asian shitlording.

I get to experience this all the time. I'm currently living in Japan, teaching English. In September I'm going to be moving back to the US. I recently told my adult conversation class this and they started talking about what it'll be like for me after having been in Japan for the last several years. I mentioned that I'll really miss the availability of Japanese food. One of my students, this 74 year old tiny Japanese women, started talking about her youngest son's recent honeymoon in Hawaii.
'I think American women can really eat a lot. My son's hotel had a buffet that they ate everyday. They said that many American women would just eat all day! I don't know if they were American, but he said American. He and his wife shared a pancake dessert, the famous big Hawaiian pancakes. They watched one women eat two! Catnipandmice, are you small in America? In Japan, you are ideal size, but I think you must be very small for being an American.'
It was so hard for me to not burst out laughing.
Once I went on holiday for a couple weeks and went from 110 pounds to about 115. Immediately, my students told me I got fat. Even though no one likes to hear it, it's so refreshing. Everytime I go back to the US, they tell me to not eat too much. All of my co-workers start calorie counting in the summer (they get their waists measured and weighed -- if they're too big they have to go see a doctor).
I'm going to miss Japan.

This is how Americans used to talk in the 70s and 80s.

There was a Japanese language FB group I was in, and this whale foreigner who works in Japan posted to complain about her Japanese co-workers shitlording her. She would be eating her food and they would say "aren't you eating too much"?

Enjoy! But I must warn you, the humidity is killer in the summer. Be sure to prepare for that.
For women, shorts/skirts can be as short as you'd like, but upper half is usually very modest (especially if you plan on going to temples\etc). Covered shoulders/no cleavage. A lot of foreign women can get away with dressing less modestly, but you'll get stares and comments from drunken Japanese businessmen.
Sorry for the unsolicited advice! I do hope you have fun.
