I love my vibrams. Only shoes i run in or hike in. If im not at work, i am rocking 5 fingers or merrill trail gloves.

Thanks for the perspective! I was looking into Soft Star Shoes, have you had any personal experience with those?

I have not. I started in vibrams in 2011, when i started to get back into running and into long distance backpacking. I wear the trail gloves when i just dont care for people staring at my feet.
First rule of minimalist shoes is start slow and start small. I got really excited by them, the feel of the ground and the terrain, and went too fast. Ended up with metatarsalgia and a host of injuries.
But really? I have been in them so long or barefoot (hell i did hike from ohio to montana minimmalist) that anything like a work boot with a heel causes discomfort now, and if i smash a rock with my toe or land on a tree stump (you'll see what im talking about if you go minimalist) i dont even feel it anymore.
And watch out for minimalist runner forums. They are... an interesting... breed.
